May 2010 During a recent trip to northern California, Gordon Kapes made the trek out to Grass Valley. In the photo on the right, Gordon is standing in front of the old bridge that was used to get to the hillside offices of the Grass Valley Group, the beginning of Grass Valley, California becoming "video gulch." The history of broadcast technology has strong ties to what they started here in 1959. Most of the buildings are left, tucked into the woods, but the company has since moved to more modern quarters.
